Scam Spotting: Free and Paid Sites
What’s wrong with a free dating site?
As it turns out, there’s plenty wrong with a free dating site. We love the idea of getting something great for free, sure, but that’s rarely the case. In general, whenever we get something free, it’s because they can’t get anyone to pay for it, or because it’s not good enough to pay for. This is definitely the case among online dating sites.

Free sites have scams, too.
Many people think that because a site doesn’t actually take your credit card information, it can’t be a scam. That would be nice, but is ultimately untrue. There are lots of scams that operate on free local slags dating sites.
Many scams on any dating sites are based around the people who use the site, rather than the site itself. In other words, you could wind up getting scammed by an unscrupulous user on any kind of website. They trick you into thinking that they’re your perfect match, then ask for money to deal with hardships or to come and see you. This can happen on any site, whether free or paid, so be wary.
“Free” doesn’t mean FREE.
A “free” site might charge you for some of their features, after luring you in with the promise of actual free features. Another thing that free sites do is pepper you with adverts, trying to make you spend your money that way. Be prepared to get a huge amount of scam emails if you’re using a free dating website.
You get what you pay for.
This isn’t always true, of course. However, in general you’re going to want to steer clear of “free” and “cheap” sites that don’t give you anything for your cash. Would you rather spend 20 hours on a free site for one date, or 5 hours on a paid site (and about 20 quid a month) and get 20 dates? The choice is yours, of course, but know what you’re getting yourself into.
Beware paid professionals.
There are, shockingly, some slag dating scams that are surprisingly professional in nature. For example, if you see a woman on one of these sites with extremely professional photographs and a well-tailored profile, she’s probably a model that was simply hired by the site. They’re brought in much of the time to make the site look more legitimate, but they’re no more a member of the actual dating populace than Victoria Beckham.
